ProPud animation

Programs: Blender, Adobe Premiere Pro

Background

During the final project, we were given more freedom to either redo an assignment we weren’t satisfied with or to explore something we found interesting in greater depth. At first, I found it very difficult to decide, but eventually I chose to redo my commercial video for a drink that we worked on at the beginning of the course.

I felt that I could have done a better job on that assignment, but I had an idea that was too ambitious, which resulted in me rushing something together just to meet the deadline.

Challenge

The biggest challenge I faced with this project was getting my animations to work the way I wanted. Scene 1 was the one I spent the most time on, as I had issues with the cookies either moving in strange ways or too quickly.

I also had some trouble making the splash look good in the final scene, and some of the animations would start to glitch or repeat themselves when I rendered them.

Solution

In the end, I managed to solve my problems after experimenting with different settings in Blender. I learned that the reason my animations were glitching and repeating was due to issues such as denoising artifacts, Z-fighting (overlapping geometry), and Eevee shadow or light probe limitations.

I resolved these problems by applying all transformations and using merge by distance.

Result

I feel satisfied with the final result and think it turned out much better than my previous one. Even though I had to struggle with several challenges along the way, I’m glad that I managed to solve them.

I learned new things that I will carry with me and continue to develop. I also feel even more motivated to improve my ability to create realistic liquids in Blender.
